Bids for hard red winter wheat in the US Plains were unchanged on Tuesday in a quiet market following the Christmas holiday. Many elevators were thinly staffed Tuesday due to holiday-related sluggish activity and movement was expected to remain slow until after the New Year's Day holiday. Protein premiums for rail car wheat to and through Kansas City were unchanged.
The Russian government has bought 331,965 tonnes of milling wheat so far in tenders aimed at supporting prices in regions far from export ports.
