Thousands of industrial workers, industrialists and textile exporters on Thursday took out a protest procession and blocked Motorway Interchange (M-3) for five hours against gas loadshedding being observed for indefinite period for Faisalabad region.
The textile millers have announced to stage long march of one million workers from Faisalabad to Islamabad in near future. Protestors on Motorway Interchange of Faisalabad set old tyers and mock funeral of President Asif Ali Zardari covered with the PPP flag on fire. Addressing the protest demonstration, the speakers announced long march programme, which will start from Faisalabad to be joined by workers at Sheikupura, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Jehlum, Rawalpindi and reach Islamabad for final a protest demonstration.
They urged the government to take urgent cognisance of this serious matter of national importance and immediately intervene to ensure optimum supply of gas to the industry. Some speakers also invite the Imran Khan, Chairman Therik-e-Insaf for leading unemployment workers rally in industrial city.
Addressing protest rally in front of the Motorway Interchange (Kamalpur) at Sargodha Road, Qamar Aftab, Vice Chairman Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association (North Zone); Rana Arif Tauseef, Chairman Pakistan Textile Exporters Association; Mian Aftab Ahmad, Regional Chairman, All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association; Rana Farooq Saeed Khan, former textile Minister addressed protesting workers and assured them of pleading their case with the government.
