Hazara, Southern Punjab provinces: MQM submits resolution to National Assembly Secretariat
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday submitted a resolution in the National Assembly Secretariat for making Hazara a separate province and carving out two provinces out of southern Punjab. The resolution was submitted by 25 MQM MNAs including deputy parliamentary leader of the party Syed Haider Abbas Rizvi.
The resolution said that six districts including Mansehra, Abbotabad, Kohistan, Haripur, Batagram and Toor should be merged into a province. It further proposed that a referendum be conducted Southern Punjab to ascertained whether the people of the area wanted one or two provinces.
