The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has convened an emergent meeting of all the chambers of commerce and industry in Punjab on gas crisis on January 2 (tomorrow). The LCCI President Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, while expressing his concern over the worsening situation of the industrial sector in the Punjab said that production has substantially been declined due to energy crisis, while most of the industries had to close their operation.
Under the present situation, the industries would not be able to pay mark-up of their loans due to closing of production on account of energy crisis. He said that gas shortage was not only causing decline in industrial production but also depriving the people of their jobs.
