Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Sunday asked Pakistan Army to start peace talks with Taliban, as the US being a key belligerent in the war is already doing so. Speaking at a public meeting at Bacha Khan Chowk in Banaras area, JI Chief Munawar Hassan also urged the Supreme Court to exercise its constitutional powers for implementation of its orders.
Munawar wanted the government to revisit the country's current unpopular foreign policy. He termed last year's Nato air strikes on Pakistan Army posts, which left at least 25 soldiers dead, an attack on Pakistan's sovereignty.
Thousands of JI workers and supporters carrying party flags and banners participated in the rally. Munawar Hassan urged the nation to get ready for bringing a revolution in the country. He slammed PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif for his continued support to Zardari regime for three consecutive years, which according to him, descended the country into economic, political and social chaos.
He urged SC to exercise its constitutional powers in order to implement its orders, besides exposing the masterminds of the memogate scandal. He held the ruling coalition led by PPP responsible for the multiplied problems being faced by the masses.
He said following the demise of communism, now the capitalism was breathing its last. "Since the communism have been eliminated and now it is the capitalism that is heading towards its logical end," JI chief asserted. He said that the nation should also be prepared for the next general elections and asserted the bearded men and Hijab-clad women would bring about a revolution to change the destiny of the country.
Though the government claims parliament is supreme, its actions always contradicted its tall-claims, he added. About the changing regional political scenario, he alleged the US was assisting India to destabilise Pakistan and strengthen the South Asia's biggest nation against the rising China.
"The US wanted to make India dominant power in the region and downplay China and Iran which would not be allowed to happen," he vowed.
He made it clear that his party was against the feudalism and had never been part of financial or otherwise corruption in its entire history.
Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Liaquat Baloch said his party would eliminate corruption from the country within 60 days after coming into power. He said the political change had already hit the world, which was likely to reach Pakistan anytime soon. Chief of JI Sindh chapter, Assadullah Bhutto and JI Karachi chief Muhammad Hussain Mehenti also addressed the gathering.
