Rates firm on the cotton market on Monday ahead of Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) meeting and Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) fortnightly report this week, dealers said. The official spot rate was unchanged at Rs 5,400, they said.
Prices of seedcotton in Sindh were at Rs 1700-2300 and in the Punjab at Rs 2000-2700, they said. In ready dealings over 12,000 bales of cotton changed hands at Rs 4,500-5,500, they addsd. According the market sources prices held the weekend levels and daily in-takes were down as the ginners held back unsold stock on expectations of better returns in the coming days, they added.
