Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik has said that the government will take administrative/ operational measures to maintain peace in Balochistan. This he said while talking to media outside the Parliament House here on Tuesday.
He said that the government will leave no stone unturned for maintaining peace in Balochistan, however, he added that the government would not hold dialogue with elements who are responsible for killing innocent people and forwarding the agenda of others to de-stabilise the country.
The Minister said that the Prime Minister Yusaf Raza Gilani has constituted the committee comprising Chief Minister Balochistan, Home Minister and senior political leader to present recommendations in order to restore peace in the province. To a question, the minister said that due to the various steps taken by the government law and order situation has much improved in the country financial hub, Karachi, mentioning that special arrangements were made to maintain law and order in Balochistan and Karachi during the month of Muharram.
Replying a question, he said that Taliban will not attack Pakistan, he urged Taliban to leave terrorist activities and play constructive role in the progress, prosperity and development of the country. Malik stressed that peaceful Afghanistan is in the best interest of Pakistan, as peace in both the countries is inter-linked with each other.
About Shahbaz Bhatti's murder, the minister said that investigation has revealed that Thereek Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was involved in the assassination and the government is making arrangements to bring back the culprits involved his killing from Middle East.
Commenting on Commissioner Indus Water Commission Jamaat Ali Shah, he said that the ministry is investigating whether his name was on Exit Control List (ECL), if his name was on the ECL and he proceeded abroad, the government will take action against the concerned staff of airport for their negligence.
Replying to a query regarding Bangladesh cricket team security, he said that the team will be provided foolproof security. "I am going to hold talks with Chairman Cricket Board and Bangladesh tame will be provided foolproof security on its arrival," he observed. To another question, he said, the special Cabinet meeting will be held on Wednesday to discuss gas issue.
