The Accountant General Punjab office has stopped the deduction of income tax from the stipend of the postgraduate trainee doctors working at Mayo, Lady Wellington and Lady Aitchison hospital and this month a stipend of Rs 42500/- will be paid to the trainee doctors.
The medical superintendent Mayo hospital Dr Zahid Pervaiz had written a letter to the AG Punjab to clarify that the trainee doctors were infact getting scholarship and according to clause 47 of Income Tax Ordinance, scholarships were not taxable. The YDA office bearers Dr Rana Sohail, Dr Salman Kazmi, Dr Talha Sherwani, Dr Ghulam Qasim, Dr Murtaza Bloch, Dr Muhammad Khawar Khan, Dr Shahid Dreshik, Dr Waqas Gondal, Dr Shehzad, Dr Asim, Dr Shams, Dr Muhammad Azhar and Dr Muhammad Amjad have thanked the Accountant General Punjab and MS Mayo hospital and hoped that the Rs 9000/- arrears will also be paid to them by the AG office soon.
