A meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting on Tuesday agreed on the establishment of Abasin TV, a Pashto channel, after signing of MoU between Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government and management of the PTV. Senator Haji Ghulam Ali, Chairman of the Senate Committee on I&B presided over the meeting held at PTV Centre Peshawar.
The committee decided that the Press Information Department, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will prepare a PC-I for the establishment of Abasin TV and send that to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for necessary help in the matter. In order to set up the new channel a MoU signed between the PTV and KPK Government after deciding necessary modalities. The committee desired that the channel may be launched at the earliest for the benefit of the people of KPK. Chairman PEMRA also briefed the committee about working performance of the authority.
The meeting was attended among others by Senators Haji Adeel, Zafar Ali Shah, Ms Shirala Malick, Ms Farhat Abbass and Abdur Rashid Provincial Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Federal Secretary Information Taimur Azamt Osman, Secretary Information KP Azmat Hanif Aurakzai and MD PTV, Yousuf Baig Mirza.
