The MQM, reposing fullest confidence in the Inquiry Commission on Abbottabad Operation, regretted for not participating in panel discussion of political parties' representatives, which was held on December 13, 2011. During the proceedings of Inquiry Commission on Tuesday, in a letter, Dr Muhammad Farooq Sattar, Deputy Convenor of MQM, conveyed profound regret of Altaf Hussain, MQM chief, for his inability to attend the discussion.
"The Leader of MQM has reposed fullest confidence in the Commission and wished God speed", it was stated in the letter. The meeting of the Commission was held under the chairmanship of Justice Javed Iqbal, a former Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The commission continued interactive sessions and invited prominent persons including Javed Chaudhry, Tahir Khalil, Tariq Chaudhry, Ikram Sehgal, Asif Bashir, Mushahid Hussain, Muhammad Dilshad and Kamran Ishtiaq.
Justice Iqbal was very optimistic to complete the report by the end of December 2011, but it is yet to reach any conclusion. In a press conference on December 8, 2011, he had said he hoped that the Commission would be able to complete recording of the evidence by the end of December and would submit the report as soon as possible. An official of the Commission said that it might issue some new date when it would complete its findings.
