A newly-married woman on Wednesday committed suicide at her house in Baldia in the limits of Saeedabad Police Station. According to the police and rescuers, the victim Maryam, 25, wife of Sohail, a resident of Baldia sector 19-D, hung herself up on ceiling fan with the help of rope.
Police said that the victim, who got married some two months ago, engaged in serious dispute with her husband and suspected that the said motive had forced her to commit suicide. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico legal formalities where her family took her body away without legal formalities.
In another incident, a man lost his life in a road mishap at Baldia No 2 in the limits of Maripur Police Station. 30-year-old Arif, son of Ghufran, who was on the way to his work on his motorcycle (KDZ-6004) was knocked down by a speedy truck (TKY-096). Resultantly he died on the spot while the police arrested the driver Faiz and impounded his vehicle. The body was shifted to CHK for medico legal formalities and later handed over to his heirs. No case was registered till filing of this report.
