The newly renovated aquarium and reptile house were opened for general public by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation at the city's Zoo on Wednesday. The revived facilities were not available for public for the last three years. This was stated by Administrator KMC Muhammad Hussain Syed on his visit to Karachi Zoo. He said besides this, more animals and birds were being brought to zoo and within a month people would see them here.
Administrator KMC was accompanied by Director General Technical Services Altaf G. Memon and officers and engineers of roads and buildings department. Director Zoo, Bashir Saddozai while giving a briefing to Administrator Karachi said that these measures were aimed at making Karachi Zoo the country's well standard and beautiful zoological garden. He said installation of five new electric water coolers for public were underway in the zoo.
More than 30 species of fish were kept in the newly renovated aquarium while the revived reptile house has now over 40 kinds of snakes and python. The inner roundabout and roads in zoo were also being redesigned and work on the restoration of old fountain was underway.
Saddozai said that after its renovation more than 200 rose saplings were planted in the famous Mughal Garden in Karachi Zoo and the fountains here were also made functional again. Syed said Karachi Zoo is located in the center of the city and in order to make it more beautiful all necessary facilities were being provided and soon this zoo would become the best zoological garden in the country. He said with the restoration of security system at the zoo people especially women and children now feel more secure.
