Inch by inch, the rupee is very close to the level of 91.00 against the dollar on currency market on Friday in process strong demand for the greenback, dealers said. The rupee continued its slide as it depreciated by 20-paisa in terms of dollar for buying and selling at 90.60 and 90.65, dealers said.
INTERBANK MARKET: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee also lost 35-paisa in relation to dollar for buying and selling at 90.65 and 90.85, they said. Versus euro the rupee, however, maintained its surge, rising by 78-paisa for buying and selling at Rs 115.57 and Rs 116.07, they said.
Reuters adds: In the final Asian trade, euro hits 16-month lows against dollar and sterling and hovered near an 11-year low versus yen, with further declines seen in store for the embattled single currency. Market players said little relief was in sight for euro, with next week's Italian and Spanish government bond sales likely to keep the market on edge and the euro under pressure. The euro dipped to as low as $1.2763 on trading platform EBS on Friday, its lowest level since September 2010. After trimming some losses euro stood at $1.2777, down 0.1 percent from late US trade on Thursday. The dollar was available versus the Indian rupee at Rs 52.79, versus the Malaysian ringgit it was at 3.1480 and dollar was trading against the Chinese yuan at 6.3105 per unit.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee continued to remain under pressure and was further declined by 40-paisa against the dollar that for the first time crossed the level of Rs 91.00 in the local currency market on Friday.
The currency dealers said that the dollar's demand remained intact that kept the rupee under pressure in the open market. The dollar was ended higher at Rs 90.80 and Rs 91.20, as its buying and selling rates against the day earlier closing of Rs 90.40 and Rs 90.80, respectively.
On the contrary, the rupee showed stability and remained unchanged on buying side, while it gained 20-paisa on selling side in relation to the British pound. The pound was purchased and sold at Rs 140.30 and Rs 141.00, as compared to Thursday closing of Rs 140.30 and Rs 141.20, respectively, the dealers added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar remained firm against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Friday.
The dollar opened at Rs 89.00 (buying) and Rs 89.20 (selling) against the last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 89.00 (buying) and Rs 89.20 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 138.00 (buying) and Rs 138.90 (selling) against the last rate. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 138.00 (buying) and Rs 138.90 (selling).
