Prolonged power cuts: trade bodies to stage protest demo tomorrow

Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and other trade bodies are all set to stage protest demonstration against prolonged power cuts, which had brought production activities to a halt in the city at Small Industrial Estate-I, Shahab Pura, Sialkot on Monday (tomorrow).
More than 16 hours of loadshedding was being carried out in the export city that was hitting the industrial sector hard while vendors industry is on the verge of collapse and industrial workers working on daily wages suffering adversely. In this situation foreign buyers were reluctant to give new orders to Pakistani business community because of power and gas crisis.
The problems of the masses were increasing with each passing day but the government despite its tall claims had completely failed to address their grievances. Industrialists and exporters were facing serious economic problems due to long and unscheduled electricity loadshedding, therefore, the government should fix this power crisis on war footing.
