Saima Mahmood, a Ph.D. graduate of the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE), has won the prestigious European Foundation Award for her outstanding doctoral research from the European Foundation for Management Development in the Human Resource Management Category. In her Ph.D. dissertation, Mahmood carried out path breaking research on efficiency wages and non-monetary motivational strategies using the tools of 'experimental economics', an emerging field in economics that is rapidly gaining wide currency.
Her work has challenged the conventional wisdom on efficiency wages and has led to new insights on the importance of non-monetary motivational strategies.-PR
