Murder case: Zainab's neighbour arrested after DNA matches
The police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested the prime suspect involved in the rape and murder of seven-year-old Zainab.
According to local media reports, the DNA of the suspect matches with samples taken from Zainab's body. However, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has not yet confirmed nor denied the reports of the arrest.
The suspect has been identified as Imran, who was reportedly the child's neighbour. Imran was previously arrested by the police in the case but was released.
The minor girl was raped and murdered after being abducted on January 4. Her body was found at a garbage dump site, five days after she went missing. Thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of the innocent girl, held on January 10. Many took to social media to condemn the incident and demanded justice for Zainab.
