The Sindh Assembly session was adjourned on Friday after offering Fateha for the spiritual leader of Hur Jamaat, Pir Pagara, who died last Tuesday night in London. The house resumed its proceeding with Sikandar Mandhro in the chair, but it was adjourned after offering of Fateha. The proceedings lasted just for 25 minutes.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Speaker Sindh Assembly Nisar Khohro were not present during the Friday session. At the beginning of the session, there were about 47 legislators in the house while at the closing moment the number was 69. The legislators also expressed condolence and offered Fateha over the death Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza's father, besides the slain PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto, journalist Wali Khan Babar and former Governor Punjab Salman Taseer.
The parliamentary leaders of MQM and PML-Q (F-B) were present during the short-lived session, while those of PPP, PML-F, NPP, PMLQ and ANP were absent. The consideration of Government Bill No 22: Sindh Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Dewan University Bill, 2011, and presentation of the respective standing committees' reports on Irrigation and Power and Board of Revenue could not be materialised. The session was adjourned till Monday, January 15.
