If you are accessing the Internet while staying at a Marriott hotel, chances are the wireless service is courtesy Ruckus Wireless - a seven-year old WiFi products maker that plans to go public in 2013. The demand for wireless connectivity has boomed with the proliferation of mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, pushing up the fortunes of companies such as Ruckus.
"Service providers are going beyond using hotspots at airports or hotels as goodwill gestures. Now they are looking at providing WiFi as a required service for their subscribers," Chief Executive Selina Lo said while on a visit to the company's development facility in Bangalore, India. The Sunnyvale, California-based company, which makes wireless LAN products for both indoor and outdoor use, clocked revenue of over $100 million in 2011. It expects revenue to jump about 70 percent this year.
