Prime Min-ister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday gave his consent to the appointment of renowned lawyer and senior Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Syed Aitzaz Ahsan as his counsel. Prime Minister Gilani will appear before a seven-member bench of the Supreme Court on January 19 to face a contempt notice on the issue of re-opening of cases under the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).
Gilani announced his decision to appear before the court in his address to the National Assembly on Monday. Allied parties' heads will accompany him to the Court. The decision to nominate Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan as the counsel came here at a meeting with the Prime Minister at the PM House.
