Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Barrister Masood Kausar Wednesday said that peace in Kurram Agency will be maintained at all costs, urging all the stakeholders to watch the situation for a quick response to any eventuality from any side to sabotage the peaceful atmosphere in the Agency.
"The miscreants should be taken to task without discrimination and efforts for lasting peace and sectarian harmony should continue", he said while presiding over a meeting of Grand Peace Jirga of Kurram Agency here at Governor's House. The meeting reviewed the situation in the Agency and discussed measure to further consolidate the peaceful atmosphere and remove the hurdles in facilitating the people in their day-to-day affairs.
Senator Rashid Ahmad Khan and MNAs Haji Munir Orakzai, Sajid Hussain Turi and Jawad Hussain besides Jirga Members Malik Waris Khan Afridi, Mailk NaJmul Hussain, Malik Izzat Gul, Badshah Hussain, Haji Faizullah Jan and Malik Noorjuff Ali attended the meeting. The Governor said that restoration of peace and opening of Thall-Teri Mengal road for commuters were big achievements, which had been made possible because of the hectic efforts by Peace Jirga, both Sunni and Shia elders, political administration and law enforcement agencies. "They all deserve appreciation for their positive and constructive role", the Governor said. However, he stressed that all the stakeholders, including administration and LEAs should continue to play their role in strengthening and consolidating the situation. "Miscreants have no religion, no faith and no sect; they have their own ulterior motives and should be taken on without discrimination", the Governor said.
He added that the nature of problem in Kurram Agency was different from law and order problems prevalent in rest of Fata and expressed the satisfaction that the issue had been resolved perfectly. He stressed the need for strengthening the information gathering system in the Agency so that the miscreant's activities could be thwarted before time. He assured the Jirga that whatever directives he had issued and announcement made during his visit to Parachinar would be fulfilled and asked the concerned officials to ensure full implementation.
Earlier, members of the Jirga and the Political Agent highlighted the situation on ground in the Agency along with some difficulties and problems needed to be focused. They stressed the need for early rehabilitation of the affectees, revival of commercial activities and resolving the problem of power outage in the Agency. The political Agent Kurram Agency Shahab Ali Shah and Additional Secretary to Governor Daud Khan were also present in the meeting.
