Islamabad Police have arrested a main culprit from Bahara Kahu after shootout at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) wherein two women were shot dead two weeks ago, Police officials revealed. A case number 17/12 was registered against the accused under PPC sections of 302, 324/34 on January 14, 2012.
The assailants were aiming to attack Rana Sarwat, who was admitted in room number 8 of PIMS after being injured at district courts. A case 108/ 2001 was registered against Rana Sarwat with Bahara Kahu police station of murder charges. The unidentified culprits wanted to attack Sarwat, but mistakenly entered room number 09 of the hospital. However, two females were shot dead by the assailants who were later identified as Saleha Bibi and Balqees Bibi. The accused had managed to flee.
Inspector General of Police Bani Ameen Khan took notice of the incident and ordered to arrest the culprits. SSP Yousuf Malik and SP (Saddar) Sajid Kayani constituted a special team to arrest the culprits. The police team finally succeeded to arrest the main culprit Mujahid alias Seth Manzoor from Bahara Kahu during a raid. The culprit is a resident of Karachi and also involved in previous attack on Sarwat in district courts. The police have dispatched teams to arrest accomplices of the culprit. The IGP has appreciated performance of the police personnel and directed them early arrest of accomplices of the culprit.
