Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, Muhammad Pervez Malik has demanded of the government to immediately release funds for Thar Coal Project, being the most important project for national economy. Expressing concern over the reports that ministry of finance is not releasing funds for the project, he said the country is facing the worst energy crisis.
"Unlimited gas closure to industries in Punjab and more than 12-hour electricity load-shedding has crippled industrial and economic activities," he said, adding, "Government's least interest in resolving the issue of energy crisis has pushed the sector to the wall." According to him, unavailability of gas and electricity has forced a large number of industrialists to close down their sectors or shift the same to other countries, thus rendering millions of workers jobless.
He warned that Thar Coal Project would face serious threat if the finance ministry does not release funds immediately. He noted that despite gasification, gas is being wasted. He said that almost Rs two billion is needed immediately but finance ministry 'has not issued a single rupee during the current fiscal year'.
He observed that PPP leaders raised the slogans of "roti, kapra aur makan" in last general elections but done the vice versa. He said that condition of masses, national economy, and trade & industry are very fragile due to the non-friendly and groundless policies of present regime.
The PML-N leader said Thar Coal is a project of national importance and would not only help resolve energy crisis but extra gas and electricity would also be exported. However, government is not releasing funds for this project and wasting huge national exchequer on non-productive visits of Asif Ali Zardari and his relatives, he concluded.
