Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) is trying its level best to ensure safe road environment in the city by involving youth, especially students for achieving the desired targets of disciplined traffic and equal implementation of law with zero tolerance against violation of rules.
This was stated by Inspector General of Police Islamabad Bani Amin Khan here on Thursday, while addressing the conclusion of road safety quiz competition `How to Drive' arranged by Islamabad Traffic Police in collaboration with Pak Suzuki Company Limited.Bani Amin Khan said that the purpose of arranging this contest is to further close links with students and promote friendly policing culture with them as they are the assets of the country.
The IGP said that ITP has succeeded in ensuring safe road environment in the city within a very short span of time. It is really great honour for ITP that its working policies are being replicated by the other law enforcement agencies and police department, he added. It is to mention that 30 students from various educational institutions of the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi were selected for road safety quiz competition "How to drive" and their verbal as well as practical test about driving sense was conducted in two phases.
Nine students' of three universities including Air University, Riphah Unviersity and Iqra University with excellent traffic passed these tests and qualified for the final quiz round held at Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA). Students from Iqra University got first position and were given awards by IGP Islamabad. The second and third position holders from Riphah and Air University respectively were also given the awards along with overall 30 students selected for the competition as an encouragement to inculcate better traffic sense and give awareness to them about traffic rules.
