The Karachi Port handled 50,617 tonnes of cargo comprising 39,656 tonnes of import cargo and 10,961 tonnes of export cargo including 2,204 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 39,656 tonnes comprised of 23,707 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,414 tonnes of general cargo; 13,529 tonnes of bulk cargo and 1,006 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 10,961 tonnes comprised of 6,730 tonnes of containerised cargo; 81 tonnes of general cargo and 4,150 tonnes of bulk cargo. Four ships namely APL Brisbane, Olivia, Wan Hai-603 and Formosa Product Alpine with three container ships and one naphtha tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Five vessels viz Pacific Emerald, Tabernacle Prince, Lt. Trieste, Chem Norma and Admiral Coral with two bulk cargo ships, one container ship, one oil tanker and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. An oil tanker namely Chem Norma sailed out to sea on Friday, while four ships namely Lt. Trieste, Kota Anggerik, Alexi-1 and Ras Ghumays-1 with two container ships, one cement carrier and one DAP carrier are expected to sail on Saturday.
Three vessels viz OOCL Busan, Kota Anggerik and MT Lahore with two container ships and one crude oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Friday, while three vessels viz OEL Trust, Nadeem and Chemway Gala with one container ship, one ethanol ship and one cement carrier are respectively due to arrive on Saturday.
Two ships namely MV Long Champ and CV Nora Maersk sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while four more ships namely Saigon Express, MTM Shanghai, Safmarine Nagami and La Paloma are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of seven vessels CV Nora Maersk, Safmarine Nagami, Saigon Express, MV La Paloma, MTM Shanghai, MT Long Champ and MT Fair Spirit are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, chemicals, LPG mix and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as two ships carrying rice and edible oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of six vessels carrying containers, chemicals, LPG mix and furnace oil are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Sui Gas Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
