Lahore High Court here Monday directed a petitioner to include the name of Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Shahbaz Sharif in an array of respondents in his petition filed against the CM for holding the portfolio of at-least 18 ministries. The petitioner, a bar member, Noshab A Khan assailed the impugned act of CM in the wake of loss of human lives due to use of substandard medicines.
He contended that the CM has concentrated all powers with him and is having portfolios of approximately 18 ministries. He further said that according to the rules, the minister is responsible to conduct the business relating to his department in the assembly, whereas he does not even find time to attend the assembly sessions. He feared that tragedies like Punjab Institute of Cardiology would continue to happen if a full time minister is not appointed in the health ministry. He urged the court to declare the impugned act of CM as illegal and unconstitutional.
