At least two persons including a woman were killed and three others injured in an armed attack on the franchise of one of the private mobile companies in the limits of North Nazimabad police station on Tuesday. Police sources said that at around 12:52 pm, two unidentified armed men barged into the franchise and opened indiscriminate firing.
Two employees of the company including the receptionist, Faiza, 25, security guard, Mazhar and three customers namely Imtiaz, 25, Waseem, 28 and Mansoor, 36 received critical injuries. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital where Mazhar and Faiza succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
Sources said the victim Faiza was the resident of Nazimabad while Mazhar was the resident of Orangi Town. SP Investigation West Khurram Waris, while talking to media said his department had collected evidences including CCTV footage from the crime scene. He said that the help of Crime Investigation Department (CID) would also be sought to investigate the incident.
Waris informed that the CID team had killed Chief of Tehrik Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Balochistan and had arrested his other accomplice Syed Yar Shan on January 7, 2012. He said the department would also make the arrested persons part of the investigation. DSP West Imran Ayub said that strict vigilance at the private and government hospitals had been ordered, as one of the assailants was also injured by the guard's firing. Meanwhile, SHO Sadiq said the attackers were in Shalwar Kameez and used small weapons in the attack. No case was registered till filing of this report.
