Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Wednesday blamed 'foreign hands' in the recent wave of target killings in Karachi and Balochistan to destabilise Pakistan.
Responding to points of order raised by some members in Lower House, Malik warned the terrorists over their evil designs saying that they (terrorists) will not succeed in destabilising Pakistan. He said that under a well-planned conspiracy, these elements have started targeting different segments of the society and members of the different sects.
He said terrorist organisations and groups are targeting members of those communities that can mobilise themselves instantly in reaction. He informed the House that the banned outfit Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) with the support of another banned organisation Sipah-e-Sahaba was targeting members of a particular community in Balochistan.
He further said that the terrorists have recruited some people from Gilgit Baltistan who are targeting people of the opposite sects to create anarchy. "The nation must understand the evil designs of the terrorists who are creating rift in the society," he added.
Responding to a point raised by a lawmaker from Balochistan Usman Khan advocate, the Interior Minister assured the House that the government would take every possible measure to identify criminals involved in the killing of wife and daughter of MPA Balochistan Nawabzada Bakhtiar Khan Domki and bring them to justice.
He said a high-powered investigation team led by the Secretary Interior has been ordered to probe each and every aspect of the incident. "The issue is sensitive because the deceased was a grand daughter of the late Nawaz Akbar Khan Bugti and elder sister of Bramdagh Bugti," he said, adding that the incident may create law and order in Balochistan. Malik said that said he has also asked Bugti family to nominate two officers of its confidence to become part of the investigation team so that the matter could be probed to their satisfaction. However, while speaking on a point of order ANP's lawmaker Bushra Gohar questioned the credibility of the country's security agencies while referring to the Interior Minister's statement about involvement of 'foreign hands' in the lawlessness.
She also condemned the activities of banned organisation under the platform of Difa-e-Pakistan Council, saying that Punjab government should explain that under which law they have allowed to organise two public meetings in Punjab. She also asked the government to provide protection to members of Ahmedi community who according to her were facing threats in Rawalpindi.
