Pharmacists of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday demanded impartial and independent inquiry into the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) incident. They staged a protest demonstration against the loss of dozens of lives due to drug reaction at Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC).
Pakistan Pharmacists Association Khyber Pakhtunkwa, General Secretary Sajjad Ali Khan along with scores of pharmacists and students of pharmacy department of University of Peshawar gathered outside Peshawar Press Club to condemn the PIC incident. They were holding placards and banners.
Khan while talking to reporters expressed concern over non-inclusion of pharmacists into the constituted probe committee for PIC incident.
He demanded proper representation of senior pharmacists, doctors, and other relevant authorities under an investigation team. "We strongly condemn the losses of 102 innocent lives," he said, adding that everything would be clear once the probe was completed.
PPA president said it was totally unjustified to accuse pharmaceutical companies before results of investigation. He added that pharmaceutical companies were not responsible for the PIC incident and asked the media to wait till the probe committee's report was made public. He also demanded of the federal government to take immediate decision regarding devolution of Drug Regulatory Authority (DRA).
