Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that conspiracy was hatched on dengue issue and he was ready to explain facts before the Supreme Court of Pakistan, if called. Talking to reporters here, he said the opposition in Punjab tried to do politics on dengue but they failed in their designs.
About drug reaction case, he admitted that some officials committed criminal negligence in keeping check on drug producing factories; however, there was no room for politics on the issue.
About the PPP-led provincial opposition's demand for his resignation on drug reaction, he said: "God Almighty has foiled all conspiracies of opponents hatched against me. I don't want any politics on dead bodies...this is deplorable."
However, he said: "All those who committed criminal negligence will definitely be brought to justice... I myself open to all inquires at all forums, whether it is Supreme Court or any commission. I have sincerely served the masses and will continue serving them."
Shahbaz said that he would submit affidavit in the Supreme Court about reaction of medicines that killed various heart patients in Punjab for exposing conspiracy hatched against the Punjab government. The government had saved lives of thousands of cardiac patents by taking immediate action, he added.
Moreover, Punjab Health Department has re-enforced 'Dengue Epidemic Control Regulations 2011 again in the province which will remain effective till November 30, 2012.
Under the regulations, owners of all private properties, houses, factories, mills and tire godowns will be responsible for addressing the causes for the growth of dengue mosquito.
Meanwhile, a spokesman of Health Department has stressed the citizens not to let water accumulate in their houses and besides disposal of broken utensils, tires and plastic bottles should also ensure the repair and maintenance of water pipes, tanks, room coolers and air conditioners as leakage of water might result in the growth of the dengue mosquito.
The spokesman further said that cleanliness and larviciding of ponds, fountains and swimming pools should also be undertaken to prevent the breeding of dengue mosquito.
The spokesman further said that under the rules and regulations, health inspectors could undertake checking of different premises and in case breeding spots of dengue mosquito were found, the owners of property would have to bear the expenses for their elimination.
The spokesman further said that owners of educational institutions were duty bound to undertake mosquito spray and fogging in the school premises for the elimination of dengue mosquito.
