The imposition of ban on pillion riding by the Sindh government was of no avail as six more persons lost their lives in separate incidents of targeted killings on Wednesday. According to police and rescue sources, a 25-year-old man was shot dead near Maripur road in the limits of Kalri police station. The victim was identified as Tahir Hussain son of Abdul Rasheed.
Police said some unidentified assailants targeted the victim when he was going to fishery. He received severe bullet wounds and was shifted to Civil Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
SHO Safdar Mashwani said the victim hailed from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and was currently residing in Agra Taj Colony with his friends. Later police handed over his body to the heirs. A case was registered against unidentified persons on the complaint of the victim's brother-in-law.
In another incident, the father of seven namely Hassan Buksh, 51, son of Ahmed Ashiq, was gunned down inside his automobile workshop located in the limits of Khokhrapar police station.
The victim received single bullet on his chest and was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he died of injuries. Police claiming to have arrested his murderer said the victim was killed over personal enmity.
In another incident, a barber was stabbed to death outside his shop located in North Nazimabad within the limits of Taimoria police station. The victim was identified as Irfan, 24, son of Akbar. SHO Kamal Naseem claimed to have arrested one Usman who was behind the killing. The victim's body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico legal formalities and later handed over to his family. No case was registered till filing of this report.
A young man namely Naeem Abbas, 25, son of Ansar Ali was shot dead in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. The victim received multiple bullets and was shifted to a nearest private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police said the victim hailed from Gilgit-Baltistan and had come to Karachi two months ago. No case was registered till filing of this report.
In yet another incident, a 42-year-old man was shot dead outside his house at Bawani Challie in the limits of Site police station. The victim, Omar Rehman son of Aziz ur Rehman was the resident of Metrovil Site. Police said the victim, who was a vegetable vendor, hailed from Swat and had arrived in Karachi a month ago. No case was registered till filing of this report.
In another incident, a man lost his live while his brother sustained injures when unknown armed men opened firing on them in the limits of Garden police station. Resultantly 55-year-old Mohammad Ahmed son of Ibrahim was killed on the spot while his brother Sameer, 27 received severe bullet wounds.
Police said the victim was a watchman and the motive behind his murder was yet to be ascertained. No case was registered till filing of this report.
