Suo motu case against four murders: better security on court premises directed

The Lahore High Court directed Home Secretary Punjab to make better security arrangements in the court premises and adjourned the proceedings for three weeks in a suo motu case against four murders in premises of Rawalpindi and Multan district courts.
As the hearing started, Home Secretary appeared before the court and told to the court that security situation in court premises had improved and necessary steps being taken to improve it more. On it, the court asked Home Secretary to revise security plan chalked out by IGP to remove its flaws. The IGP had already informed the court that police chalked out security plan after lengthy deliberations with representatives of district bar association.
It further said that instead of station house officers concerned, the regional and district police officers will be held responsible if such incidents would occur in future. Four assailants had gunned down their three rivals the moment they entered the court premises. Their indiscriminate firing also claimed life of a passer-by. Police had arrested three assailants while the fourth escaped from the scene.
