The Chief Justice Lahore High Court on Friday adjourned to March 6 the proceedings in a petition against power outages as law officer informed the court that the loadshedding had been ended as government had made payments to power supplying companies.
The court observed that the federal government had given relief to the public first time. The petitioner, however, contended that it happened time and again that the government paid a little amount to the companies and later people faced the loadshedding again. The court at this adjourned the proceedings till March 06. Petitioner Azhar Saddiqui approached LHC seeking a restraining order for Wapda and electricity distribution companies not to carry out power outages.
The petitioner alleged that the government was not paying payments to Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and they were not producing electricity, which was a violation of fundamental rights of the people. He said it was a fact that people were facing gas loadshedding for no reason and now electricity shortfall again for no reason.
