The cash strapped Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday approved the extension of Blue Area with the objective of generating funds through auction of commercial plots along with construction of another weekly bazaar.
This was decided in CDA board meeting presided over by CDA Chairman Farkhand Iqbal and attended by member Engineering Sanullahaman, member Estate Khalid Mirza, member Planning and Designing Abdul Qureshi, member Environment Mian Waheed uddin and member Finance Javed Jahangir along with other senior official of CDA.
The official said the reason of Blue Area extension was to auction a number of commercial plots to private companies to generate funds. Under the plan CDA would allow construction of multi-story building, he said, adding in the first phase Blue Area would be extended up to sector F-9 and later on would be stretched up to sector F-10. He said that extension of Blue Area was planned several years ago but the authority failed to approve it due to various reasons. The meeting also approved setting up of another weekly bazaar at sector H-11/2.
