Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan, Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan on Wednesday said that Election Commission of Pakistan has issued an order regarding submission of appeal by the candidates contesting election of Senate, as following: That appeals arising out of the decisions of Returning Officers rejecting nomination papers for Senate elections shall be addressed to and filed with ECP, which shall hear and decide them at ECP Secretariat, here.
The appeals shall be filed in the following manner: Federal capital, appeals to be filed before the secretary, EC in his office at ECP Secretariat, here, Sindh province, appeals to be filed at the office of the secretary, EC or with the provincial Election Commissioner, Sindh, Karachi, Punjab province, appeals to be filed at the office of the secretary, EC or with the provincial Election Commissioner, Punjab, Lahore, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata, appeals to be filed at the office of secretary, EC or with the provincial Election Commissioner, KP, Peshawar and Balochistan, appeals to be filed at the office of secretary, EC or with the provincial Election Commissioner, Balochistan, Quetta.
The appeal may be filed by the candidate himself or by a person authorised in writing by the candidate in this respect. Announcement of the day and time for the hearing of appeals in the press and electronic media shall be deemed to be sufficient notice of the day and time so appointed. An appeal shall be in the form of a memorandum, which shall state the date of rejection of the nomination and the grounds of appeal and shall be accompanied by a certified copy of the order rejecting the nomination. Copies of Memorandum of Appeal shall be supplied by the appellant to all other candidates for the category for which the appellant had filed the nomination paper. The receipts thereof shall also be attached with the memorandum.-PR
