Burshane LPG (Pakistan) Limited (formerly Shell Gas LPG Pakistan Limited) has posted Rs 28.677 million as profit after tax in the quarter ended December 31, 2011 against Rs 1.654 million after tax loss in the same quarter in 2010. The company's earning per share stood at Rs 1.27 in the period under review against per share loss of Re 0.07 in the same period a year back.
The board of directors of the company, in its meeting held on Thursday, recommended an interim cash dividend for the quarter and half-year ended December 31, 2011 at Rs 1.50 per share ie 15 percent. According to financial results sent to Karachi Stock Exchange, the company's gross sales increased to Rs 621.194 million in the quarter against Rs 475.817 million in the same quarter in 2010.
The company paid Rs 85.603 million as sales tax in the quarter against Rs 69.143 million paid in the same quarter a year back. The company's cost of product sold increased to Rs 459.963 million in this quarter against Rs 361.376 million in the same quarter a year back.
The company posted Rs 56.967 million as profit before taxation in this quarter against a profit of Rs 5.508 million in the same quarter in 2010. On half-year basis, the company posted Rs 45.012 million as profit after tax translating earning per share of Rs 1.99 in the six months period ended December 31, 2011 against after tax loss of Rs 10.655 million with per share loss of Re 0.47 in the same period in 2010.
