Futures open interest up 2 percent

Total open interest position at the futures counter during the week ended on February 18, 2012 increased by Rs 36 million, up 2.0 percent on week-on-week basis, to Rs 1.86 billion. The futures spreads, on the other hand, declined by 605bps on week-on-week basis to 0.05 percent.
The average daily volume at the futures counter decreased by 11.87 percent to 7.2 million shares. The top five scrips at the futures counter, holding 60 percent of total open interest, were Engro, FFC, NBP, PSO and OGDC.
