A draft resolution has been submitted to the Senate, seeking the Upper House to condemn the increasing US interference in Pakistan's internal affairs, describing drone strikes and violation of the country's air space as virtual acts of war.
Moved by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Ishaq Dar, the draft resolution has been signed by the party's another Senator Raja Zafaral-ul-Haq and Jamaat-e-Islami's Senator Professor Khurshid Ahmed and submitted to the Upper House on Tuesday for passage under Clause 120 (1) of the Senate Rule.
The draft resolution, a copy of which was also released to the media, is the continuation of the reaction of the political parties and government of Pakistan against the resolution moved in the US House of Representatives seeking self determination to the people of Balochistan by Congressman Dana Rohrabacher.
"The Senate of Pakistan condemns in strongest terms increasing interference of the US in the internal affairs of Pakistan," said the PML-N's draft resolution, adding that the consistent direct violation of our sovereignty and territorial integrity, drone attacks and violation of our air space are virtual acts of war.
Terming the move in the US congress as an attack on the country's sovereignty, it said that the introduction of a bill in the Congress by three Congressmen, seeking alleged right of self-determination to Balochistan is a latest act of aggression, adding that the timing of this irresponsible and outrageous move is also significant, as it coincides with the Pak-Afghan-Iran Summit to seek regional solution to the Afghan imbroglio and withdrawal of foreign troops from the area.
Pakistan has strongly condemned the move by summoning US acting envoy Richard Hoagland at Foreign Office and lodged a protest with him and also conveyed Islamabad's serious concerns to Washington on Monday. "The people of Pakistan regard all these as acts of illegal interventions in our affairs and demand that the Government of Pakistan to forcefully condemn this unfriendly acts of the US and review and restructure its relationships with the US to protect its independence, sovereignty and vital national interests and the wishes of the Pakistani people," said the resolution.
With regard to solution of Balochistan issue, the draft resolution called upon the government to take immediate steps, including holding of all parties' conference and engagement with all stakeholders in Balochistan to seek resolution of all problems through dialogue and justice-based mutual accommodation.
