Hashmi Media Institute, a subsidiary of Hashmi Media Welfare Trust, is located on the second floor of Orient Advertising (Pvt) Ltd at 195A, SMCHS, Karachi. The inauguration aimed at celebrating the affiliation of the Institute with University of Karachi for the Commencement of MA Mass Communication programme.
The enrolment has just begun. The Institute is offering specialisations in print media, radio and television programme production and news reporting as well as advertising and PR to students seeking enrolment in the MA Mass Communication programme. The classes for the MA session 2012-2014 will begin on March 12.
Hashmi Media Institute aims at national development of Pakistan by providing high quality media education and training to scholars, amateurs and professionals in media. It is a subsidiary of Hashmi Media Welfare Trust (HMWT) that has frequently sponsored media education and given scholarships to students enrolled in degree programmes at various universities across Pakistan over the past two decades.
The HMI is registered with the Sindh Literacy Department, Government of Sindh and affiliated with KU vide letter no. SAC/HMI/02/2012 dated February 9. The Hashmi Media Institute plans to offer short and long duration higher degree, diploma, and certificate programmes to enhance the quality of media education in Pakistan in collaboration with a well-reputed British Institution, under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in 2011.
The MoU covers a broad agreement to work together on specific projects to help develop HMI's own specialisations in journalism (Print and Online), TV journalism, TV documentary, radio, scriptwriting (TV, film, radio), and filmmaking. The short, technically and technologically grounded, professional, hands-on training courses shall increase the performance of amateurs and working professionals in media.
The Institute will also provide opportunities to its faculty for free/cost effective enrolments in its foreign programmes in future. The project focuses on improving the media industry by localising the quality in media education and training in a cost effective manner.-PR
