The Karachi Port handled 45,402 tonnes of cargo comprising1 34,340 tonnes of import cargo and 11,062 tonnes of export cargo including 768 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 34,340 tonnes comprised of 9,168 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,923 tonnes of general cargo; 7,786 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,590 tonnes of coal; 5,196 tonnes of canola seeds and 12,463 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 11,062 tonnes comprised of 2,247 tonnes of containerised cargo; 232 tonnes of general cargo; 2,883 tonnes of cement and 5,700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Five ships namely Hyundai Forward, UACC Ibn Al-Ather, Constancy, Star Sea Rainbow and Bao Flourish with one container ship, two oil tankers, one bulk cargo ship and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Three vessels viz Hermes, Vishva Bandan and Bao Flourish with one container ship, one bulk cargo ship and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.
A container ship namely Hermes sailed out to sea on Wednesday. Four vessels viz President Adams, Cap Verde, Angelica Schulte and Iodas-II with two container ships, one LSF oil tanker and one hexane carrier respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while eight vessels viz UASC Shuwaikh, YM Fuzhou, Yaran, Lodestar Genesis, Oriental Rose, Maetiga, Glovis Prestige and UBC Cyprus with three container ships, one chemicals carrier, one ethanol ship, one mogas carrier, one unit ship and one cement carrier respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 107,407 tonnes, comprising 76,443 tonnes of import cargo and 30,964 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,022 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 76,443 tonnes includes 50,732 tonnes of furnace oil; 3,801 tonnes of fertiliser; 4,240 tonnes of coal and 17,670 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 30,964 tonnes includes 2,616 tonnes of rice and 28,348 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two ships namely CV MSC Reunion and MV Ever Shining with containers and bulk cargo sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely MT Karachi with crude furnace oil is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of six ships namely CV MSC Reunion, MV Florida-II, MV Lion, MV Arrilah, MV Ever Shining and MT Karachi are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, urea, coal and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours. As many as four ships namely CMA CGM Puccini, MT Qubaa, Athina and Topaz-II with containers, furnace oil, diesel oil and iron ore respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
A total number of three vessels viz CV CMA CGM Puccini, CV Alexander and MV Topaz-II carrying containers and iron ore respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Iron Ore & Coal Berth respectively on Wednesday. Five container ships namely CV Nysted Maersk, CV Safmarine Ngami, CV Dubai Express, CV Hanjin Elizabeth and CV MSC Maria are due to arrive on Thursday.
