The government has decided to withdraw cases against Baloch leaders in exile, said Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Thursday. "Cases against Harbyar, Brahamdagh and all other Baloch leaders in exile would not be pursued and I personally welcome Baloch leaders upon return to Pakistan," said Rehman Malik while talking to journalists after a meeting on Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan.
He said he had met Harbiyar Marri in London. To a question regarding calls of Baloch leadership to take action against former president Pervez Musharraf, he said he would take action once the Balochistan government writes to him. Malik said that Frontier Constabulary (FC) would only act on orders of the provincial government.
The Interior Minister said the government was planning to convene an All-Party Conference on the Balochistan issue. He urged the Baloch and national leadership to attend the APC. To a question regarding missing persons, he said that those who were being desired as missing persons were in fact killed during Jihad in Afghanistan. He said the relatives and heirs of the missing persons must accept the reality. According to him, only 42 people are missing from Balochistan.
Interior Minister said that 15,000 students from Balochistan would be given Rs 15,000 per month internship stipend each in new Prime Minister's Internship for Balochistan to work as school teachers in Balochistan. The federal government would release Rs 4 billion to WAPDA on account of its share in subsidy for farmers of Balochistan, he said.
The meeting decided that 2400 federal government jobs would be filled on merit with the assistance of MNAs and Senators of Balochistan. To encourage representation of government officials at federal level, every officer would be awarded a one-step higher post after he or she joined the federal capital on deputation.
It was decided to double the number of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) beneficiaries - from 375,000 to 750,000. The number of personnel of Federal Levies Force would be increased through fresh recruitment of 3,000 people (present strength is 3500).
The meeting decided that Capital Development Authority (CDA) would give one suitable plot to Balochistan government for the construction of a students' hostel and an officers' hostel in Islamabad. FC Balochistan will not move in any district without the permission of the relevant Deputy Commissioner and no check post of FC would be established without the permission of the CM Balochistan.
The meeting decided that the FC and the Coast Guards would exercise powers under Customs Act and restrict their deployment to 10 km of the international border. PTV will air documentary and programmes on implementation of Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan regularly for general awareness and information.
