$2 billion agriculture, livestock export target: 'supply chain management system will be improved'
Supply chain management system for agriculture and livestock products would be improved to achieve the two billion dollars export target at the earliest, said the Punjab Secretary Agriculture, Muhammad Mushtaq Ahmad here on Friday. He was chairing a high-level meeting, which was attended by the officers of the Agriculture Department, Star Farm Asia and suppliers of the agriculture and livestock products.
Secretary Agriculture was given a detailed briefing about the project who directed the officials to take all possible steps for increasing the traceable products range to 250 products and arrange road shows and technical assistance to the stakeholders in this regard.
The meeting was informed that over Rs 2 billion has been allocated to encourage the export of traceable products from Punjab. It was informed that the livestock or agriculture farmers have to bear only 30 percent expenses and rest would be borne by the Punjab government in this regard.
