Pakistan Study Centre, University of Punjab organised lecture on writing of Ph.D. dissertation here on Friday. Professor Dr Bettina Robotka from Institute of Asian and African Studies, Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany was the speaker. Professor Dr Bettina Robotka said that while writing a Ph.D. thesis, students must access to source material including documents and other material such as paintings and monuments etc.
She said writing about one period/event is a continuing process which never ends and it can not be covered totally by one writer. Talking about a teacher, she said that teacher must be a proper source of knowledge and he/she should be able to convey information to students.
Guiding the Ph.D. students she advised that they must have understanding of title of their subject while they go to choose it. Students should try to add rich material that must be valid for the awareness of public. She said that while writing thesis, students must be updated to that level where they should be able to convey information to global community. A question-answer session was held after the lecture. The lecture was attended by faculty members, Ph.D. and M. Phil. researchers of the study centre and History Department.
