National Assembly: last session of fourth parliamentary year likely from March 1
The last session of fourth parliamentary year of the National Assembly is likely to start from March 1, it is learnt. "The Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Bill, 2012" was likely to be passed in the forthcoming session of the Lower House, sources added.
Sources said the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has sent a summary to President Asif Ali Zardari for calling 39th session of the National Assembly on March 1. It would be the last Lower House session of fourth Parliamentary year. The Senate already passed "Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Bill, 2012" to provide protection against domestic violence to women, disabled persons and senior citizens.
All the members of the upper House of the Parliament agreed on passage of the Bill without referring it to concerned standing Committee of the Senate. Sources said according to the Constitution, the National Assembly has to complete 130 days in a Parliamentary year. Two days are reaming of the on-going fourth parliamentary year of the National Assembly.
They said the session of the National Assembly was also being summoned to complete 130 days of the parliamentary year The fourth Parliamentary year of the National Assembly would end on March 16, 2012 and fifth parliamentary year would start with Presidential address to the joint setting of the Parliament. The sources said the issues like petroleum prices, law and order situation in Balochistan, price hike and power load shedding would also be discussed in the forthcoming session of the National Assembly.
