At-least five persons were killed in separate incidents in various parts of the metropolis, here on Saturday. According to police, a 16-year-old scrap dealer, Saleem, son of Zahid, was killed in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area near Dubai House in the limits of Gulistan Jauhar police station.
The victim received bullet on his head when he was standing beside the guard of a private company, Imtiaz. They said the bullet charged suddenly from Imtiaz's rifle, killing Saleem on the spot. Police arrested Imtiaz and shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico legal formalities. Police said the victim was the resident of Bhittaiabad, Sacchal area and termed the incident an accident.
Another man lost his life when he offered resistance during robbery bid in Preedy police remits. Police said Sirajuddin, 55, a goldsmith by profession, was intercepted by armed men when he was on his way to his home. He received fatal wounds and died on spot, while the culprits managed to flee from the scene. The deceased was shifted to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
In yet another incident, bullet-riddled body of a man was found in the remits of Manghopir police station. Police said the body was recovered on the information of inhabitants of Ghaziabad area. Police said the deceased was kidnapped and then murdered and added that the body was shifted to morgue for identification. A three-day old tortured body was recovered near Port Qasim in the precincts of Docks police station. The identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained. Police said the deceased was shifted to morgue for identification.
A trader was shot dead in Urdu Bazaar in the precincts of Aram Bagh police station. The incident took place in the bazaar where 28-year-old Shah Zaib Farooqui, son of Mujahid Farooqui, was targeted by armed men when he was about to leave for his home. He received multiple bullet injuries. Police shifted him to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. Police sources said the victim, who had four shops in Urdu Bazaar, had received extortion slip of Rs 0.5 million few days ago and suspected that he might have been murdered over the refusal to pay the same.
