The newly established Industrial Police Liaison Committee (IPLC) has been disbanded with immediate effect over corruption charges. In a letter by the DIG Headquarters to the IG Police, it was revealed that a number of complaints of corruption and mismanagement were received by police headquarters against IPLC, which was recently created at Faisalabad with its offices in the district police lines.
The complaints range from corruption to favouritism in awarding membership of IPLC and registration of FIRs. The Inspector General of Police, Punjab, took a serious notice of the situation and directed that in the presence of Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) which was already functioning in Faisalabad, there was no need of a parallel body in the shape of Industrial Police Liaison Committee (IPLC). Hence, directives have been issued that Industrial Police Liaison Committee (IPLC) be disbanded immediately and matters/issues dealt with by IPLC be referred to Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC).
