This is to comment on the frequent claim of our Prime Minister that he holds the parliament supreme which is sounding not very much convincing in face of the fact that the interior minister Rahman Malik, after four full years of the assassination of his party leader, has been briefing the Sindh Assembly instead of the National Assembly and the Senate about the inquiries and accusations in this case. Was Benazir Bhutto a Sindhi leader only or a national one? So why leave the Parliament out and brief the Sindh Assembly only?
The same suspect action can be seen with regard to the Balochistan problem, there seems to be some game plan for which the Baloch leaders are being pushed to the wall to get old scores settled. Balochistan during British India was one of the major sources of procurement of minerals for which a complete meter gauge infrastructure was established for transportation of goods. Why after independence this area has been neglected not only to the disadvantage of the Balochistan province but for the federation also. Political blunders committed from time to time have led to the present deadlock that after four full years of present government, situation has been constantly deteriorating and neglected. An Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package announced with pomp and show, was also not implemented. Now the Prime Minister is trying to convene an APC instead of reporting to the joint session of the Parliament about this government's failure to solve the situation and evolve a consensus to remedy the wrongs within a given timeframe. People will doubt the very sincerity of rulers if they don't act. The whole story smells of an election campaign rather than respect for the National Assembly or the will of the people.
