Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that there was a great need to change the system of governance in the country. The PTI would soon suggest a comprehensive policy on how to curb terrorism and ensure good governance in the country within 90 days. "The Prime Minister cannot take decisions on merit and perform well if he has a cabinet of 80 members who became ministers by using blackmailing tactics," Imran said while addressing a seminar here on Sunday.
The PTI Chairman suggested that the cabinet size should be small and comprised of capable and honest members who could work freely without any political interference. He further suggested that autonomous boards of organisations should be established having an authority to select the heads or chiefs of the organisations on merit.
Imran was of the view that good governance could be ensured in the country if the bureaucracy was depoliticised.
"The political leadership having assets abroad can never launch log-term projects and adopt policies for development of the country," he said adding that his party members could not contest elections unless they declare their assets in Pakistan and abroad.
He said that the energy crisis was a big issue facing the country due to which industries were badly suffering. "The energy crisis is leading the country towards bankruptcy and the PTI has put energy on top of its priority list," he added.
He said that due to lack of trust in government policies, oversees Pakistanis and foreigners were reluctant to invest in the country.
To a question, Imran said that the Kalabagh Dam had become a political issue therefore all stakeholders should be taken on board before taking any decision.
