Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has congratulated Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy on winning the Oscar Award for his documentary "Saving Face". He also announced to award gold medal on her historic achievements. He termed it as an honour for Pakistan. He said that Ms Chinoy had not only brought the oppression and injustices committed against women in Pakistan into sharper relief but had drawn attention of the world by her documentary towards protecting the helpless women in the country.
He said that Ms Sharmeen and her team deserved every appreciation for their efforts. Mr Hussain said that it was the belief of the MQM that women in Pakistan had the potential to brighten the name of the country if they were empowered. He said that the Oscar award for the documentary was a good sign for Pakistan, and it was testimony to the fact that men and women in Pakistan were endowed with talent and abilities having the potential to excel in every field of life.
