Dr Israr Shah, once a close aide of late Benazir Bhutto, and who remained associated with Pakistan People's Party (PPP) for about 42 years, has confirmed that he is going to say goodbye to the party on Thursday. Dr Shah will announce his joining of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) at a press conference along with PTI Chairman Imran Khan, where he will also share reasons, which forced him to take such a tough decision.
When asked, what was the reason, which compelled him to quit the party? Shah said he would explain all the reasons at a press conference on Thursday at PTI central secretariat. Dr Shah has been at odds with the central leadership of PPP. His membership of the PPP's Central Executive Committee (CEC), was suspended two years ago.
Sources say that the main reason behind Dr Shah's decision to quit the party is his complete ignorance by the PPP leadership after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. He is the man who lost his legs in a blast at a PPP rally in 2007. Late Benazir used to call him his brother.
