Germany's Viktoria Rebensburg won Friday's giant slalom on home snow at Ofterschwang for her fifth World Cup victory and second of the season as she moved to the head of the discipline's season standings. Rebensburg timed 2 min 33.30sec to see off Slovenia's Tina Maze by 0.06sec with Austria's Elisabeth Goergl and Italy's Irene Curtoni joint third at 0.74sec.
Rebensburg had a 0.11sec lead over Maze after the opening run and led Goergl by 0.14sec and extended her dominance to take the win and move 44 points clear of French star Tessa Worley, who could only place seventh.
